I led a massive project to define & document the VMware User Interface Standard. Researched and clarified each piece, drawing in feedback and advice from key players in engineering, design, and management. Preference shown for “established practice” whenever feasible but there was much uncharted territory and some inconsistencies. Sometimes negotiation and/or new designs were needed. I documented with images & text then passed to Tech Writer for finalization. A few examples here:
DATAGRID – This is the final detailed standard for data grids, a huge component of VMware’s management infrastructure.
DATAGRID DISCUSSION – This is an example of the discussions & visualizing that went into datagrid standard.
WIZARDS – This is an example of a highly detailed standard “in progress” (rev 5).
